The Cenacle provides a sacred, peace-filled place for prayer. An impacting atmosphere of quiet and peace that affects all who enter...a sanctuary away from the rush and consumerism of the world. A place of simplicity where there is time to be quiet and hear the gentle voice of God speaking to the heart ... where each person is greeted with warmth and a smile ... where each person is nourished physically and spiritually.

Nestled silent, save for the natural sounds of its beauty deep within our imagination, Cenacle appears as our place of refuge, of understanding, of friendship, of spirituality, of goodness and of discovery. The call of the peacock introduces the morning sunlight as [gentle] bells sound forth inviting us to participate in a metamorphosis, a transformation, an awakening into a new spirit of God, self and joy…

In grateful appreciation,

David Devaney

Dining Hall

The Cenacle Dining Hall caters to healthy lifestyles with menus provided by Chef Arthur Chambers and Cook Beverly Rodgers. Their combined culinary experiences of over 40 years results in hearty meals that please the palate. Ample salad choices and substantial side dishes appeal to vegetarian guests. Special diet considerations are accommodated with a physician's directive.

The Grounds

Nine acres of wooded grounds include trails that lead to peaceful private areas designed for individual prayer and meditation. As you stroll along the trails, you will be tempted by a swing, or be called by the gentle babbling of a fountain to sit a spell and listen. The warm filtered sun may incline you to relax in a hammock, feel the breeze, listen to the birds or watch the butterflies and squirrels.

Your meditation may lead you to the outdoor labyrinth or the outdoor Stations of the Cross.

Bound by two bayous, you are secluded and yet you are also afforded the luxury of a lengthy walk by venturing off the Cenacle grounds to one of Houston's many trails which is connected to the Cenacle by a private gate.

Your Hosts

The Religious of Our Lady of the Cenacle live on the grounds. They are here serving as retreat directors, spiritual directors and/or your hosts during your stay.
